Viewing trace files under Mac OS 8 and 9

The information below is only relevant to users of Mac OS 8 and 9. All other users should go back to the sequencing guidelines and download Finch TV.


Please be aware that as a Mac 8 or 9 user you will need to first convert the trace files into a suitable format and then open them with Edit View. Proceed as described below.


Install the software

1. Download ABI's Edit View

2. Download and install the ABI conversion utility (Win to Mac)

View your files

To convert the trace files to Mac OS format:
1. Create a new folder in any location you find appropriate.
2. Copy the trace files into the new folder.
3. Double click the icon representing the conversion tool 'Win to Mac'.
4. Navigate to the location from where you can see your new folder.
5. Click it to select it. Make sure you click only once (do not enter the folder).
Notice: At this point you will not be able to see the file names inside the folder.
6. Click the 'choose' button on the rightmost side of the window.
7. After a few seconds, you should be able to open the files with Edit View.
